About Me

“I believe there is no better therapy than letting ones creativity flow and I want to encourage my daughter, and anyone else who wants to learn, to use art and crafting to make life better.”

Hello Creative Friends!

My name is Becky and I’m so happy to welcome you to my blog, Orange and Calico. I started this blog hoping to inspire and encourage the creative and not-so-creative people in my life and beyond to make cards!

If you love browsing creative card ideas, stamping and crafting techniques, and getting card making inspiration, then I think you’ll like it here. My posts detail how I make cards and the awesome products and techniques that EVERYONE can use (even if you aren’t the creative type!).

I decided to start this blog because I have always loved crafting, and have been doing so since I was small (with the help of crayons and construction paper). Since then, I’ve evolved and have been making cards for over 15 years! I can usually be found in my craft cave stamping, embossing, watercoloring, coloring and cutting paper while listening to good music. I believe there is no better therapy than letting ones creativity flow and I want to encourage my daughter, and anyone else who wants to learn, to use art and crafting to make life better.

As you may have guessed it’s named after my beloved cats: Rupert, a large, sensitive orange guy who could melt anyone’s heart, and Noodle, a skinny, spicy calico who loves her people and not much else. Besides the cats, I also live and love with my Partner of 9 years and newborn daughter in Alberta, Canada, where we like to explore fun places to eat, read good books, drink too much tea and snuggle up together.

I hope to be able to help you explore your creative side by showing you the cards I make, classic and new techniques, as well as the amazing products that are out there for card makers! My goal is to eventually get video tutorials, so for now come say hi on Instagram (click) and subscribe to my blog!
