I’ve been so thrilled and busy with spring tidying, cleaning and (sadly) going back to work, that I haven’t had much time to craft! The last few nights I finished up most of my gardening, and have some time to putter in my craft room – though I should be tidying that soon too….
It’s been awhile since I did a project for The Color Throwdown and I was so inspired by the color scheme this week! Not only do I love the combo, but I want to sit on the porch and read for hours on end.
After I perused through my stamp drawer (yes they occupy a whole drawer now), I found two sets from My Favorite Things from a recent order that I haven’t gotten to play with yet – Bold Diagonal Stripes Background and Sweet Succulents. I could not resist the super cute cacti and their cheeky sentiments – LOVE!
To create the background for this card, I used Gina K white cardstock, and used the background stamp with distress oxides in Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron. Once I had the ink on the stamp I misted it with water, and placed my card panel on top of the stamp (no drips this way) and pressed it. After letting it dry, I ended up with a watercolor-looking striped background.
I stamped the succulent and pots images on the same paper with my new favorite black ink – MFT Extreme Black. Seriously people – get this ink. But not before I order a big pad for myself because it’s amazing for alcohol markers and is actually black. I don’t get paid to say this stuff…. I’m just THAT into it.
I colored the images with alcohol markers, then fussy cut them out. I also stamped the sentiment on the white cardstock for the front.
Lastly, I attached the panel to the card base and popped up the succulents and sentiment with foam squares. I love the look of the vibrant background with those gorgeous cacti!
Thanks for stopping by crafters! There is time to submit for the Color Throwdown until tomorrow morning! As always, like, comment and subscribe if you like what you see here! Happy spring!
