I don’t know about you, but there is some serious warm weather approaching! The past few days have been beautiful – 1-6 degree days where the snow is melting and it makes me feel like winter’s dreadful grasp is loosening (can you tell I’m a summer person?)
All this lovely weather got me in a great mood and getting excited to start planting my garden and flowers. Since the ground is still frozen, fortunately I can play around with some of my favourite floral stamp sets instead!
My all time favourite floral set is this one by Altenew called Adore You. It’s so simple, easy to colour, and can be used for pretty much anything. And while I do have the coordinating dies, these flowers are so easy to fussy cut!
For both of these cards I used a watercolour base cut just smaller than 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. I used a brush and some pearlized and regular watercolours to create a splotchy and splattery background. I find it fun to use a piece of acetate, add drops of watercolour to the paper, then smush it around for a more organic look.
While I was waiting for those to dry, I stamped my flower images onto watercolour paper with black waterproof ink (Archival).
The I painted them all and let them dry too. A little hint for watercoloring flowers – paint one petal at a time with water first, then dab your colour where you want it darkest, and drag the paint around. Then wait for it to dry before doing the neighbouring petal (I do alternate ones at a time).
You could easily add any sentiments you wanted on these – they’d be great for Mother’s Day!
As always, please subscribe and like my posts and blog – and my instagram is pretty exciting too!
Have a great first week of spring and Easter!
